What Will My Scout Learn

Scouts will learn a variety of skills from knots to navigation and will be given the opportunity to apply those skills in activities varying from SCUBA to sailing. Our program also teaches its scouts the importance of water safety and what actions to take to prevent water accidents.

Who can Join Sea Scouts?
To join, a youth must be 14 years old (or 13 years and completed the eighth grade) but not yet 21. To find Sea Scout ships In your area visit beascout.org and type in your zipcode. lf there is not a Ship in your area, a group of parents, a school, a church, or community organization can organize one.
Who Pays for Sea Scouts?
Sea Scouts are self-reliant and pay for their own way including uniforms, equipment, Ship’s dues, and other personal expenses including membership fees required for BSA-provided liability and medical insurance coverage. Most Ships participate or conduct council approved money earning projects to help pay for part of your expenses.
