The Scout Ranger Regatta was originally an event for Sea Scouts but now everybody goes. Includes traditional sailing and rowing events, as well as kayaking, canoeing, swimming, pillow-fights, and volleyball. Purported to be the largest gathering of its kind in the southern hemispher. The Bridge of Honor includes a terrific dinner, awards ceremony aboard a landship for Sea Scouts (including the coveted Sea Scout of the Year Award) and Sea Scouting adult officers, a formal dance with a Queen of the Ball competition, a Sunday morning Skippers' meeting, and a great deal of socializing and idea swapping. This is one of the largest Sea Scouting events in the country and is extremely well run. The Rendezvous traditionally serves the Texas Gulf Coast Sea Scouting units, but invites all interested Ships to participate. The Rendezvous follows a traditional form with events derived from skills presented in the Sea Scout Manual and on practical sailing skills. Scores by competing crews are kept to determine and recognize winners. Events include knots, marlinespike, first aid, boatswains chair, stage rigging, mariners quiz, ring buoy, scuttlebutt, drill, navigation problems,uniform inspection and the like. The U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation and Sea Scouts, B.S.A. are hosting an extraordinary opportunity to be part of a great event from June 27 through July 4, 1999. Twenty-four Sea Scouts will be selected to come to the Washington, DC area to see first hand the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marine Corps, and Merchant Marine. Participants will stay at Andrews Air Force Base. The U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation and Sea Scouts, B.S.A. are hosting an extraordinary opportunity to be part of a great event from June 27 through July 4, 1999. Twenty-four Sea Scouts will be selected to come to the Washington, DC area to see first hand the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marine Corps, and Merchant Marine. Participants will stay at Andrews Air Force Base. 24 National Artificial and First Aid Competition, The Bull Wall, Dublin Bay, Ireland. Sponsor: East Coast Sea Scout Region. Description: The National Artificial and First Aid competition is open to junior and senior sea scouts. The event is run over a day and teams work as individuals and in pairs. The competition is held in the 5th Port of Dublin (Dollymount) premises on the famous Bull Wall. It is famous because it was one of Captain Bligh's (Mutiny on the Bounty) main projects he under took after returning from the south seas. 23-24 Mac Tir, Greystones, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. Sponsor: Greystones Sea Scouts. Description: This is a two day event under canvas with both sea cubs and sea scouts taking part. The programme for the weekend is water based and will include the East Coast Sea Scout Regions canoe sprints and the long distance East Coast Skiff race. The skiff race is normally run in Dublin Port, but this year it will be over a course of 10kms on the Irish Sea. The skiff is unique to the East Coast of Ireland, especially around Dublin. They were formally used in the days of sail and crews from Dublin port would race out to meet ships coming to Dublin to load and off load. The crew that won the race had the right to look after this ship for the duration of its stay in Dublin port. This was a means of employment for the crews. Cost: IR£15 per head for the weekend. Carlingford is an old Viking settlement dating back to the 8 / 9th century. It has fine remains of a King John Castle. The surrounding area has plenty of forests and mountain tracks for hill walking. The highest peak on the Peninsula has a fine view across Carlingford Lough to The Mountains of Mourne , which sweep down to the sea. Included in the programme will be regional canoe sprints and open sailing regatta. The open regatta will feature our own Sea Scout standard boat the BP 18. The main race of the day is for the seamanship trophy.

Crews from Irishtown and Ringsend would race each other out to meet these boats in Dublin Bay. The crew that came first then had the privilege of off loading for reward. NaWaKa is an event in which every scout should take part at least once. From Tuesday 23rd of July until Thursday 1st of August, several thousands of Sea Scouts will explore Dutch waters. About 4,500 sea scouts will participate in NaWaKa 2002. Of this number a maximum of 500 will come from outside the Netherlands or from overseas with a maximum of 50 from any one country. The Sea Scouts in Malahide which were formed in 1919 have had a long relationship with the Talbot family camping on their property since 1951 and using their courtyard for storing camping equipment.. The scout den in Malahide is on the foreshore on property given over to the sea scouts in 1974 by Lord Milo Talbot. This is newest event in our East Coast annual programme. The event is for individuals and entries are for under 13 years, under 15 years, under 17 years and under 21 years. The course starts with a swim across Malahide Estuary , followed by a one mile dash and finally a 1 mile canoe sprint. The trophy of the day is the "Iron Man" keenly contested for!

Description: This event is open to all units that want to attend and is a fun regatta that takes the usual competition events and makes them different and fun. For instance, we may do drill blindfolded. Instead of a written test, we may play Jeopardy with general knowledge subjects. Knots in the dark and how well do you really know compass points and relative bearings? This is usually a well-attended event and everyone has a great time.

Description: The National Artificial Resuscitation and First Aid Competition is open to junior and senior sea scouts. The event is run over a day and teams work as individuals and in pairs. The competition is held in the 5th Port of Dublin (Dollymount) premises on the famous Bull Wall. It is famous because it was one of Captain Bligh's (Mutiny on the Bounty) main projects he under took on his return from the South Seas. The wall when completed naturally kept the entry to Dublin Bay from silting up.

Tel: 087.2559516. Description: The East Coast Skiff is 22-foot long clinker built wooden craft. It has a crew of five, four rowing and one coxswain. They are very popular with rowing clubs along the East Coast of Ireland. They originated in the days of sail when ships came with their cargo to Dublin Harb. Crews from Irishtown and Ringsend would race each other out to meet these boats in Dublin Bay. The crew that came first then had the privilege of off loading for reward. This was a form of employment. Rowed for on the lower end of the River Liffey from the Eastlink to Matt Talbot Bridge in Dublin City.

11-13 55th Annual Bay Jammer. Location: Menominee, Michigan. Host: Bay Lakes Council. Cost: $16.00. Since 1948, Bay Jammer has been held on the shores of Green Bay in picturesque Menominee, Michigan. Participants in Bay Jammer can include Sea Scouts, Venture Scouts, Explorers, Boy Scouts, and even Senior Girl Scouts. Over 350 Scouts thoughout the Midwest participate each summer. Events range from boating, canoeing, swimming, a talent night, sand sculpting, volleyball, a triathlon, a compass relay, log rolling, first aid, and much more. This castle has had the same family "The Talbot's" in residence up till 1976. The Sea Scouts in Malahide which were formed in 1919 have had a long relationship with the Talbot family camping on their property since 1951 and using their courtyard for storing camping equipment.. The scout den in Malahide is on the foreshore on property given over to the sea scouts in 1974 by Lord Milo Talbot. This is newest event in our East Coast annual programme. The event is for individuals and entries are for under 13 years, under 15 years, under 17 years and under 21 years. The course starts with a swim across Malahide Estuary , followed by a one mile dash and finally a 1 mile canoe sprint. The trophy of the day is the "Iron Man" keenly contested for!

6 National Artificial Resuscitation and First Aid Competition. The Bull Wall, Dublin Bay, Ireland. Sponsor: East Coast Sea Scout Region (Ireland). Cost: € 8 per Team. Description: The National Artificial Resuscitation and First Aid Competition is open to junior and senior sea scouts. The event is run over a day and teams work as individuals and in pairs. The competition is held in the 5th Port of Dublin (Dollymount) premises on the famous Bull Wall. It is famous because it was one of Captain Bligh's (Mutiny on the Bounty) main projects he under took on his return from the South Seas. The wall when completed naturally kept the entry to Dublin Bay from silting up.

Lough Dan is one of our National Scout camping sites nestled in the lovely Garden County of Wicklow.
Wicklow is the county below Dublin that starts at the Dublin Mountains. The surrounding area has plenty of forests and mountain tracks for hill walking. Included in the programme will be regional canoe sprints and open sailing regatta.
The open regatta will feature our own Sea Scout standard boat the BP 18. The main race of the day is for the seamanship trophy.

Description: The East Coast Skiff is 22-foot long clinker built wooden craft. It has a crew of five, four rowing and one coxswain. They are very popular with rowing clubs along the East Coast of Ireland. They originated in the days of sail when ships came with their cargo to Dublin Harbor. Crews from Irishtown and Ringsend would race each other out to meet these boats in Dublin Bay. The crew that came first then had the privilege of off loading for reward. This was a form of employment. Rowed for on the lower end of the River Liffey from the Eastlink to Matt Talbot Bridge in Dublin City.

Dublin. Tel: 087.2559516. Description: The town of Malahide sprung from the presence of the Norman Castle built in 1140 A.D. This castle has had the same family "The Talbot's" in residence up till 1976. The Sea Scouts in Malahide, which were formed in 1919, have had a long relationship with the Talbot family camping on their property since 1951 and using their courtyard for storing camping equipment. The scout den in Malahide is on the foreshore on property given over to the sea scouts in 1974 by Lord Milo Talbot.
This is newest event in our East Coast annual programme. The event is for individuals and entries are for under 13 years, under 15 years, under 17 years and under 21 years. The course starts with a swim across Malahide Estuary, followed by a one-mile dash and finally a 1-mile canoe sprint. The trophy of the day is the "Iron Man" keenly contested for!

The 6th Annual Northeast Region Sea Scout Sailing Championships held at King's Point--US Merchant Marine Academy, King's Point, NY. This a sailboat racing event with a learn to race aspect to it. All Sea Scouts are welcome. We will sail in FJ's provided by King's Point. All other equipment for running the event will be provided by King's Point, except personal gear and camping gear (if you choose to stay at the college). ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST PROVIDED THEIR OWN TYPE III OR BETTER PFD!

All food, trophies, t-shirts, and berthing is included if you choose to camp. Please let us know as soon as possible if you intend to camp. Crews are also welcome to stay off campus at a nearby hotel or other facility. Staffing help is needed for race committee, safety boat drivers, dock-hands, galley and scorers.

Enjoy a chance to meet Sea Scouts & Mariners from near and far. We've had Ships attend from Florida, the Midwest, both Northern and Southern California, and even England!
Two full days of events will test your leadership abilities and nautical skills. Activities will challenge all participants both mentally and physically.
Competition events range from Knot Tying to Uniform Inspection, from Swimming to Marlinspike Skills. They include Drill, Mariners Quiz, Sailing, and Scuttlebutt ! In all, there are over 25 different events. There's even a dance Saturday night!

Description: The Bridge of Honor includes a terrific dinner, awards ceremony aboard a landship for Sea Scouts (including the coveted Sea Scout of the Year Award) and Sea Scouting adult officers, a formal dance with a Queen of the Ball competition, a Sunday morning Skippers' meeting, and a great deal of socializing and idea swapping. The NER Sea Scout Sailing Championships is the opportunity for Sea Scouts from around the Northeast Region and the country to test their competitive sailing skills inone-design racing in FJs (2-man sloops). The NER Sailing Championships is also the Qualifier for the Northeast Region to receive an invitation to the William I. Koch International Sea Scout Sailing Championships (www.seascoutcup.org).
