Description: The National Artificial and First Aid competition is open to junior and senior sea scouts. The event is run over a day and teams work as individuals and in pairs. The competition is held in the 5th Port of Dublin (Dollymount) premises on the famous Bull Wall. The programme for the weekend is water based and will include the East Coast Sea Scout Regions canoe sprints and the long distance East Coast Skiff race. The skiff race is normally run in Dublin Port, but this year it will be over a course of 10kms on the Irish Sea. The skiff is unique to the East Coast of Ireland, especially around Dublin. They were formally used in the days of sail and crews from Dublin port would race out to meet ships coming to Dublin to load and off load. The crew that won the race had the right to look after this ship for the duration of its stay in Dublin port. This was a means of employment for the crews. Cost: IR£15 per head for the weekend. Description: Senior seamanship competition for individuals of venture scout age.The trophy has been contested for the pass 7 years.The actual trophy is hand crafted in Irish Oak.There are prizes for the top 3 placings . 1st place is a week long trip on the Irish Asgard 11. This is the national training ship. Other prizes have been sponsored by Irish Lights, with a week long trip on their coastal tender. Description: The National Artificial Resuscitation and First Aid Competition is open to junior and senior sea scouts. The event is run over a day and teams work as individuals and in pairs. It is famous because it was one of Captain Bligh's (Mutiny on the Bounty) main projects he under took on his return from the South Seas. The wall when completed naturally kept the entry to Dublin Bay from silting up. |

Crews from Irishtown and Ringsend would race each other out to meet these boats in Dublin Bay. The crew that came first then had the privilege of off loading for reward. Crews from Irishtown and Ringsend would race each other out to meet these boats in Dublin Bay. The crew that came first then had the privilege of off loading for reward. 55th Annual Bay Jammer. Location: Menominee, Michigan. Host: Bay Lakes Council. Cost: $16.00. Since 1948, Bay Jammer has been held on the shores of Green Bay in picturesque Menominee, Michigan. Participants in Bay Jammer can include Sea Scouts, Venture Scouts, Explorers, Boy Scouts, and even Senior Girl Scouts. Over 350 Scouts thoughout the Midwest participate each summer. The scout den in Malahide is on the foreshore on property given over to the sea scouts in 1974 by Lord Milo Talbot. This is newest event in our East Coast annual programme. The event is for individuals and entries are for under 13 years, under 15 years, under 17 years and under 21 years. The course starts with a swim across Malahide Estuary , followed by a one mile dash and finally a 1 mile canoe sprint. The trophy of the day is the "Iron Man" keenly contested for! |

Lough Dan is one of our National Scout camping sites nestled in the lovely Garden County of Wicklow.
Wicklow is the county below Dublin that starts at the Dublin Mountains. The surrounding area has plenty of forests and mountain tracks for hill walking. Included in the programme will be regional canoe sprints and open sailing regatta.
The open regatta will feature our own Sea Scout standard boat the BP 18. The main race of the day is for the seamanship trophy. |

Crews from Irishtown and Ringsend would race each other out to meet these boats in Dublin Bay. The crew that came first then had the privilege of off loading for reward. This castle has had the same family "The Talbot's" in residence up till 1976. The Sea Scouts in Malahide, which were formed in 1919, have had a long relationship with the Talbot family camping on their property since 1951 and using their courtyard for storing camping equipment. The scout den in Malahide is on the foreshore on property given over to the sea scouts in 1974 by Lord Milo Talbot.
This is newest event in our East Coast annual programme. The event is for individuals and entries are for under 13 years, under 15 years, under 17 years and under 21 years. The course starts with a swim across Malahide Estuary, followed by a one-mile dash and finally a 1-mile canoe sprint. The trophy of the day is the "Iron Man" keenly contested for! |

The 6th Annual Northeast Region Sea Scout Sailing Championships held at King's Point--US Merchant Marine Academy, King's Point, NY. This a sailboat racing event with a learn to race aspect to it. All Sea Scouts are welcome. We will sail in FJ's provided by King's Point. All other equipment for running the event will be provided by King's Point, except personal gear and camping gear (if you choose to stay at the college). ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST PROVIDED THEIR OWN TYPE III OR BETTER PFD!
All food, trophies, t-shirts, and berthing is included if you choose to camp. Please let us know as soon as possible if you intend to camp. Crews are also welcome to stay off campus at a nearby hotel or other facility. Staffing help is needed for race committee, safety boat drivers, dock-hands, galley and scorers. |
